LONGFELLOW NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

This 1759 Georgian mansion was home to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow from 1837–1882, a central gathering place for writers and artists in the 19th century and also served as George Washington’s headquarters during the siege of Boston in 1775–76. Original furnishings, books and art from around the world are on display.

MOUNT AUBURN CEMETERY

Founded in 1831 by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, Mount Auburn was the first landscaped cemetery in the country. Many prominent Americans are buried here, including Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Isabella Stewart Gardner and Winslow Homer. The cemetery is also an arboretum, sculpture garden and wildlife sanctuary.
