DIVINE
DESSERTS
You may not admit
it, but most people’s favorite course is really the last
one. For those who love to indulge their sweet tooth, here
are a few dessert classics as well as some recent raves.
- Boston Cream Pie
Parker’s Restaurant
Omni Parker House, 60 School St., 617-227-8600. As the
alleged birthplace of the world-famous Boston cream pie,
where else would one go to try the delectable, chocolate
and custard-layered cake?
- Cannolis at Mike’s
Pastry
300 Hanover St., 617-742-3050. This North End
institution has hosted presidents, world leaders and
oodles of celebrities. Its renowned cheese-filled
cannolis are handmade daily.
A must-do when visiting the city.
- Molten Chocolate Cake
Finale
1 Columbus Ave., 617-423-3184. It’s impossible to pick
just one confection at this one-of-kind desserterie, so
we’ll go with their signature—the baked-to-order
chocolate cake draped with coffee ice cream,
chocolate-covered almonds and chocolate sauce.
- Classic Tahitian
Vanilla Creme Brulee or Marjolaine A l’Elvis (Tie)
Radius
8 High St., 617-426-1234. Creme brulee has become the
dessert du jour, and frankly it’s a tired fad. Radius
pastry chef Licia Gomes, however, has created one that’s
simply divine. Or try the ingenious velvet Elvis: banana
cake laced with peanut meringue, banana mousse and
tahini ice cream.
- Aphrodisiac Milkshake
Union Bar and Grille
1357 Washington St., 617-423-0555. Our personal
favorite. You’ll love the idea of drinking a rapturous
chocolate milkshake out of a big fat straw in the middle
of one of Boston’s chic new restaurants. Add a shot of
Godiva liqueur to pack that extra punch.
