CIRQUE DU SOLEIL PRESENTS OVO
Under the "Grand Chapiteau" on Fan Pier
Through August 29

If you’re the type that spent happy childhood days watching the hard-working inhabitants of your very own ant farm or ran about in a field trying to catch fireflies, then the masterful performers of Cirque du Soleil have returned to Boston with the perfect show for you. Ovo transports audiences into a whole new world—as brightly colored and eye-poppingly imaginative as any previous Cirque show—where butterflies, ants, grasshoppers and other insects go about their daily business until their colony is disrupted by the arrival of a fly carrying an enormous, mysterious egg. What ensues is a light-hearted story full of romance, humor and, of course, Cirque du Soleil’s trademark jaw-dropping acrobatics, amazing costumes and visually stunning set pieces. Believe the buzz—Ovo is not to be missed!

Rock the Boat

2010 ROCK AND BLUES CRUISE SERIES
Departing from Long Wharf, Boston Harbor
August 6&7, 13, 19-21 & 27

There’s nothing worse than being marooned at sea on a boring booze cruise, held captive by some hack DJ’s substandard music selection. This summer, keep your nautical good times from walking the metaphorical plank by hopping aboard a Rock and Blues Concert Cruise of Boston Harbor, where you can spend three hours cruising the coastline, dancing and rocking out to some of the area’s top bands. Upcoming cruises boast entertainment from funk/disco act Booty Vortex (August 7), Celtic rockers Enter the Haggis (August 13, pictured), Virginia combo Carbon Leaf (August 19) and Beatles cover band extraordinaire Beatlejuice (August 20). Come join the fun aboard a cruise where it’s not only okay to rock the boat, it’s pretty much mandatory.
